For me a painting, regardless of its successful appearance, is unfinished unless it contains the inner meaning I had set out to express at its beginning. Yet I never know how to achieve it.
Thus each painting becomes a new adventure, a new quest that may take months, even years, and layers of paint. The acrylic with its quick drying properties is the perfect medium for such explorations.
I work exclusively with pallet knives which provide a resistance and a roughness I prefer over the agility of the brush. Finally, whatever the subject, personal or universal, it must be positive.
Following, as I do, an inner guide, this is the only way I can paint. |
